Must eat: La Bouchon – Budapest

One of the reasons to travel to Budapest was to celebrate my mom-in-law’s birthday. So of course, we hunted far and wide for a restaurant that had received rave reviews and what we found was exactly what we were looking for.

We found La Bouchon and all I can say it, it was a culinary experience to remember. A small space, sparsely yet elegantly decorated, with simple tables adorned with white tablecloths, it seemed very unassuming. But we were immediately greeted by a very pleasant man; Mr. Louis. He immediately lead us to our table, making us feel very much at ease and then of course indulged our multiple requests for having our picture taken.

He went on to recommend some of the key dishes and starters and we were more than keen to try everything he suggested. The one aspect of our experience that we appreciated the most was the patience and enthusiasm with which he suggested the dishes to us. The entire staff had a deep knowledge of the ingredients and were attentive, which made it a lovely time for us.

I would highly recommend dropping by there if you are ever in Budapest.

Some starters and main courses we had the pleasure to taste:

Starter: Marinated mozzarella slices in sour cream with basil

And then of course, we requested a mini celebratory dessert but instead received a custom made cake to celebrate! It was really divine.

I’m a big foodie, and this place did not disappoint. A must visit restaurant in my books!
